The Hole Experience
Hole 8 is a welcome scoring opportunity for the player who thinks clearly. The shorter yardage encourages aggression, but the smarter golfer will first ask where the best approach should come from. This is a hole where position can matter more than distance.
A controlled tee shot to the right part of the fairway can leave a short iron or wedge into the green. That is often the better play than trying to force the ball as close as possible. The wind can still influence the tee shot, and the fairway angle may reward a shaped ball rather than a straight one.
Once you have a short club in hand, focus on distance control. Birdie is possible here, but only if the approach is precise. A careless wedge can remove the advantage earned from the tee. Play it neatly, trust the number and this hole can offer one of the better chances on the outward nine.
