The Hole Experience
Hole 12 is one of the most interesting decision holes on the course. It is short enough to make players think about being aggressive, but there is enough trouble to punish a loose or overconfident swing. Good short par 4s ask a question, and this one asks it clearly: how much do you really want to take on?
Longer players may consider driving close to the green, especially with a favourable wind. But unless the line is clear and the swing feels confident, the smarter play is to lay up to a full wedge distance. A controlled shot from the fairway will often produce a better score than a recovery from an awkward place near the green.
The approach should be played with spin and distance in mind. Do not simply aim at the flag. Think about the safest landing area and the easiest putt. This is a hole where birdie is possible, but only if the first decision is a good one.
