The Hole Experience
Hole 3 gives players a chance to settle into the round. The tee shot feels a little more inviting, and many golfers will be tempted to open the shoulders. That can work, but only if the line is chosen with care. Natadola Bay has a way of making generous landing areas feel narrower once the wind begins to move the ball.
The key is to find a position that leaves a comfortable approach. If you are playing from the white or red tees, this hole can become a genuine scoring opportunity, but the same rule applies: favour control first. A clean strike from the fairway will always beat a longer drive from an awkward lie.
The approach should be played with patience. Avoid going long if the green surrounds are firm or exposed. Centre of the green is a very good target, especially early in the round. A par feels steady, and a birdie is certainly available for the player who places the ball well.
