The Hole Experience
Hole 5 is a proper three-shot par 5 for most golfers. It asks for a drive that is long enough to create options, but accurate enough to avoid bringing trouble into the rest of the hole. From the tee, your priority should be finding the fairway rather than trying to overpower the course.
The second shot is the one that will define your score. Many players make the mistake of trying to take too much on, only to leave themselves out of position for the third. A better plan is to play to a comfortable wedge or short iron distance, especially if the green is partly hidden or playing uphill.
Approaching the green, take enough club and stay disciplined. This is a hole where par is a strong result and birdie is earned through planning rather than luck. If you manage your angles well, the hole can be played with calm authority. If you rush it, it can quickly become one of the tougher holes on the outward nine.
